Peter Smith – Drums

Since the mid 2000’s Peter Smith has been working with Pete Grandison at Shanghai Twang Studios, playing drums on recordings by local artists. He has a Certificate and Associate Diploma in Jazz Performance from the WA Academy of Performing Arts, is a Bachelor of Music Education,  and has more than thirty years professional experience playing drums and singing harmonies in bands.

Peter Smith’s musical journey began with a cheap guitar. This first step ended in tragedy when his beloved instrument collided with a letterbox while he was riding his bike to a friend’s house. After borrowing a cousin’s drum kit, he decided that drums were for him.

Jennifer Tingley – Cello

Jennifer Tingley has performed with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, studio orchestras for film, backing orchestras for Richard Clayderman, James Morrison, Rod Stewart, Natalie Cole among others, and with small chamber ensembles around Australia including the Fremantle Chamber Orchestra. She also loves playing folk and acoustic music, having performed with many Australian musicians including Simon Nield, Craig Sinclair, Junior (SA), Nick Turner, Braemar (VIC) and David Hyams to name a few. She has recorded and toured with some of these groups to festivals around Australia, including Fairbridge, Woodford, Port Fairy, the National Folk Festival, Nannup and other smaller festivals, and recently toured to America to perform at the Folk Alliance Showcases in Memphis, Tennessee.

Cathie Travers – Accordion

Award-winning composer and performer Cathie Travers has spent her life breaking musical boundaries. Her playing ranges from celtic folk through tango and jazz to experimental chamber music and Twentieth Century classical music.

Cathie Travers’ music embraces the gamut of hard-edged contemporary pungency to sweetness, nostalgia, and up-beat extrovert wit.

Travers freelances as a soloist, as Musical Director for dance and theatre companies, and as a featured performer with various chamber ensembles and orchestras. She also leads tango, gypsy and fusion ensembles and performs with an array of folk, blues, rock, jazz and new music groups.

She is in demand as a session musician, appearing on CD’s by Australian artists such as Bernard Carney, David Hyams, Snakefish and Brenda Chapman, and has collaborated with such eminent performers as Slava Grigoryan, Robyn Archer, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Balanescu Quartet, Black Swan Theatre Company and the Juniper Chamber Orchestra. Her work has been featured in major Australian arts festivals and at concerts in Canada, the USA, the UK, Malaysia, Thailand and Japan.
