A Flicker In The Glass
Some people think
And some people act
That’s a basic difference
And that’s a basic fact
Some think too much
Some act too fast
Some think love is real
Some think it can last
But you and me we come from such different sides of town
You are always up
While I am sometimes down
But being with you made me feel like a clown
And a prince at times
Life can be so strange in the mergers that it makes
But the thought of me and you
Well that really takes the cake
It seemed to work so well
I thought I’d won a prize
And even now I melt
When I look into your eyes
But I guess I should have known
That some things just don’t last
What seems solid now is just a flicker in the glass
And the promises we make how quickly they do pass
And seem like lies
It was so swift
It seemed to flow
But I hate to say
Easy come, easy go
I guess I should be grateful for your staring me apart
It let me rebuild from the ground up
I never would’ve done that if you hadn’t crossed my heart
And left me lying there
It’s okay, don’t worry I’ll be fine
I know when to open-up and where to draw the line
I’ve lived alone before
You know it suits me very well
And our love’s not the first to waltz through hell
You and me we come from such different sides of town
You are always up
While I am sometimes down
But being with you made me feel like a clown
A very lucky fool
A lucky fool
Very lucky
