Jennifer Tingley – Cello
Jennifer Tingley has performed with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, studio orchestras for film, backing orchestras for Richard Clayderman, James Morrison, Rod Stewart, Natalie Cole among others, and with small chamber ensembles around Australia including the Fremantle Chamber Orchestra. She also loves playing folk and acoustic music, having performed with many Australian musicians including Simon Nield, Craig Sinclair, Junior (SA), Nick Turner, Braemar (VIC) and David Hyams to name a few. She has recorded and toured with some of these groups to festivals around Australia, including Fairbridge, Woodford, Port Fairy, the National Folk Festival, Nannup and other smaller festivals, and recently toured to America to perform at the Folk Alliance Showcases in Memphis, Tennessee.
Jennifer plays cello on Ian Lilburne’s debut CD, Ghosts, on the tracks Stay and The Night.
After completing her Bachelor of Music at the W.A. Conservatorium of Music, Cellists Jennifer Tingley moved to New South Wales to take up a position as teaching assistant at the Newcastle Conservatorium while studying her Master of Music degree.
She returned to Perth to continue teaching locally and then made two trips to France to take part in chamber music workshops. As a result of these workshops she was invited to Czechoslovakia to study chamber music at the Hudebni Academy in Prague.
Jennifer has also studied cello and the Alexander Technique in London with Vivien Mackie, a student of the late Pablo Casals, and taken part in master classes and workshops by many great international musicians including Mistislav Rostropovich, Steven Isserlis, Peter Wispelway and Ralph Kirschbaum.
